2021 Year in Review: A Winning Year For Incept
Here at Incept, our purpose is to help our employees become the best version of themselves. It is because of this commitment to our employees that we have subsequently experienced so much success in the past several years, especially in 2021. Incept has added over 300 jobs to the local economy in the last 5 years while almost doubling revenue.
It’s our intense focus on this purpose that has landed us at the top of multiple awards lists, commemorating our culture, employee engagement, and company growth. We make an effort to prioritize several aspects of business, so we were excited when we received so many awards highlighting these topics. Everything we do as a company is centered around our core values:
Integrity
Never settle
Compassion
Everyone’s a customer
Present
Tenacious
On top of our core values, mental health is another important aspect of our culture. We believe that happy employees lead to happy customers and when you value your people (and demonstrate that value), they’ll provide better service for your clients! With the majority of the Incept team being remote, it’s essential to keep our winning culture top of mind to prevent employees from feeling isolated and not a part of the greater mission.
Please, join us in celebration of a fantastic year while we recount the incredible recognition of a passionate, hard working team!
Cascade Capital Growth Award
Incept was recently recognized by Smart Business as a recipient of their Cascade Capital Growth Award. This recognizes the companies exhibiting the most growth over a 5 year period from 2016 to 2020. We were also recognized with Best Employee Growth as we added over 300 jobs during this period due to expanding our service offerings and client base.
Smart 50
Since 2014, the Northeast Ohio Smart 50 Awards recognize the top executives of the 50 smartest companies in the Northeast Ohio region for their ability to effectively build and lead successful organizations. One reason for winning this award was due to Incept’s leadership proactiveness and urgency to transition the entire company of about 400 to remote work in under 2 weeks. And during the year, the company grew another 40%! Another nod to exceptional leadership is that revenue is trending toward a 300% increase compared to when Sam purchased Incept.
It’s exciting to note that Sam is the only recipient that has received this award 5 times! Sam’s transparency with the rest of the Incept team on company progress is unmatched and appreciated by those not directly involved in these discussions and decisions. Weekly Town Hall presentations and monthly management meetings are greatly valued across Incept. In these meetings, team members have the chance to recognize colleagues for their outstanding work.
Business success is also discussed on a level that is not typically shared at other privately held companies - Incept employees are given details on how revenue is pacing and words of encouragement from Sam to help get everyone inspired to make suggestions on how we can continue to improve processes. Knowing that an employee’s ideas are always welcome helps them feel like they are a part of something bigger, rather than simply sitting at a desk working their job
Weatherhead 100
Established in 1988, The Weatherhead 100 awards are the premier celebration of Northeast Ohio’s spirit of entrepreneurship and the companies leading the way in Northeast Ohio. Each year, they recognize this elite group of companies who are the best example of leadership, growth and success in our region. Companies that make the list are recognized for their percent of revenue growth over the past five years. Out of 75 total winners, Incept landed in the 36th spot!
Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service
Since 1998, The Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service, presented by Smart Business, honors businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their communities. Its purpose is to encourage a charitable environment, recognize creative efforts that make a difference and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and nonprofit worlds.
The Pillar Award embraces a broad definition of community service. It may consist of charitable giving, volunteerism, pro bono work or other forms of giving back. Service may be limited to a single organization or cause, or spread across numerous organizations and causes. Each nominee is judged based on impact relative to its size rather than overall size of contribution or effort.
Each year, Incept strives to make a difference in the lives of others. We commit up to 10% of our yearly earnings to local, national and multinational charitable organizations that provide goods and services to people in need around the globe. These donations of time and money are evaluated and distributed by a committee called Incept Gives, a small group of Incept employees that are passionate about making a difference in the world. Learn more about InceptGives - feel free to submit a nonprofit sponsorship application if applicable!
Smart Culture
This award focuses on companies in Northeast Ohio with exceptional culture who are not just talking about the importance of culture in the workplace, but also putting it into action. Incept’s culture is driven by the commitment to its purpose by leadership and the company’s employees. Each and every day, they strive to build their clients, partners and employees up into the best possible version of themselves.
A common misconception is that employees want more than bean bag chairs and beer Friday. Instead, they’re looking for an environment that allows them to grow and be a part of a bigger purpose. We do this by a commitment to our values, transparent leadership, social engagement, mental health support, giving back to the community, personal and professional development, and so much more.
Incept engages employees through social media and last year added a private Facebook group for them to interact with each other. From job questions to inspirational quotes, employees use the group for community. It has taken on an entirely new meaning since March 2020, when the company shifted the entire organization to virtual within 14 days.
Plain Dealer Top Workplaces Award
This award recognizes great companies based purely on the opinions of the people who work there and for that reason, it's one of the most important and meaningful awards that we could receive! It's about creating a culture in which employees feel a strong belief in where we're headed, how we're going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together.
What culminated in this list of awards was the result of hard work and collaboration from hundreds of people through a very challenging time. We're incredibly proud to work with so many amazing people that bring such passion and purpose to work every day.
What a year! Now, here's to 2022!
We couldn’t have received any of these outstanding awards this year without the entire Incept team. And for that, we are so thankful to everyone for making Incept such an award-winning company!
